Planinsko polje
Il polje di Planina è una conca pianeggiante completamente circondata da dolci colline, creata dal fiume Unica. Il fiume vi entra da sud, uscendo dal Cavernone di Planina e nei periodi di piena anche da altre grotte. Attraversa il fondo della conca creando dei pittoreschi meandri per poi sparire in una serie di inghiottitoi posti ai piedi delle alture settentrionali. Quando gli inghiottitoi non riescono ad assorbire tutta l'acqua, l'Unica straripa trasformando la conca in un lago.
Quando ci sono stata tuttavia il polje era sì un lago, ma di tarassaco in fiore.
The Planina Plain is a completely closed carsic basin surrounded by smooth hills. It was created by Unica river that enters the plain from some caves on the southern hills. After a short but very tortuous course it disappears swallowed by other caves in the northern side. But sometimes, when the water is too much to be swallowed quickly enough, the river overflows and the plain becomes a lake. When I was there however, the plain was a yellow lake of dandelions, not water.

La stazioncina di Miramare
La stazioncina di Miramare, costruita attorno alla metà del 19-esimo secolo per servire il vicino Castello di Miramare (residenza dell'arciduca Massimiliano d'Asburgo e di sua moglie Carlotta) e l'adiacente parco. Qualche decennio fa è stata gravemente danneggiata dai vandali, ma di recente è stata restaurata per servire la vicina Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA - ISAS). Purtroppo dopo i restauri se ne è andato l'enorme ed antico glicine che adornava il porticato.
This quaint little station was built in 19th century to serve Miramare Castle (residence of Archduke Maximilian von Habsburg and his wife Charlotte) and the surrounding park. Proprio drio el canton
Tradotto: "proprio dietro l'angolo".
Da quando è caduto il confine con la Slovenia sto scoprendo posti deliziosi a non più di 20 minuti d'auto da casa. Aggiungi la primavera e la voglia di dipingere e diventa subito tempo di "en plein air".
Translation: "just behind the corner".
Since there is no more border to cross to reach Slowenia, I'm discovering wonderful places at no more than 20 minutes drive from home. Add spring and the urge to paint and it is time to go "en plein air".

Quattro volte Miao
Per chi non lo avesse intuito, adoro i gatti. Purtroppo non ho nè il tempo nè la possibilità di tenerne uno in casa, e devo accontentarmi di dipingerli ;)
If you hadnt' guessed it yet, i simply adore cats. Unfortunately i don't have the time and place to own one, so I must go with painting them...

Voglia di Primavera
In realtà la neve che ci ha preso di mira da un po' di tempo non mi dispiace affatto, quello che mi manca è solo un po' di sole.
Comunque, in attesa della primavera ho realizzato questo. Stavolta ho usato una tela grezza che ho volutamente lasciato trasparire limitandomi ad abbozzare lo sfondo.

Anyway, while waiting for Spring I created this. I used raw canvas and i willingly let it come through brush strokes, leaving the background at a sketch level.
